Towering shelves lined with voluminous storage jar forms fill the room to create a dramatic grotto effect. The vessels are thrown in two parts using black stoneware clay, about 17” high, flattened on the back, and are painted with a black metallic wash, then fired for the second time in a gas kiln for a surface reminiscent of cast iron. 2017
