Residency in denmark

During the month of September, Kala will be making a new body of work at Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Center!

Kala’s focus will be to map atmospheric events and explore the specificity of place during her residency which is located one hour south of Copenhagen. She will be experimenting with surface effects that are achieved by collaborating with rainwater, gravity, and time. Denmark's frequent rains and unique weather patterns, which are in stark contrast to where Kala lives in California, will provide a special opportunity for her to delve deeper into these techniques and themes and make work that embodies working in this unique part of the world.
